Believe it or not, my real name is Sunny. And I have tried to live up to my name my entire life, always having a “sunny” disposition. I have a lot of energy and am very enthusiastic in what I do.

I was born in Virginia and because my father was a Navy man, I spent a lot of my younger life moving around living on both coasts. I met my husband in Farmington, New Mexico and we moved to Minnesota with our three children in 1986. After residing in the southern part of the Twin Cities, we moved to the Elk River/Big Lake area in 2004.

My husband and I have been married for almost 32 years and besides our three wonderful children, we also have three grandchildren and one on the way in May 2008.

I have been doing Portrait Photography full time for about three years now, though photography was always a hobby. I was the designated "family photographer," taking pictures at all the family events, of my children and grandchildren, and of other people's children. Growing up and in my early adulthood I always thought it would be great to be a photographer, however things don't always happen the way you think they should....

A few years ago, after working 16 years for a large company, I decided to pursue something I really loved to do and was good at. So, I enrolled in the photography program, along with some business planning classes, at Dakota Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota. In December of 2005, I graduated with a 4.0 in Photographic Technology and took Best Photographic Portfolio in the Fall 2005 Portfolio Show. Besides my schooling, I've attended a number of seminars and classes that have provided a comprehensive approach to my career transition. My background in credit and collections, product management and retail operations has also been a great asset in starting up my own photography business.

In addition to photography, I enjoy doing lots of things – I enjoy life! I love spending time with family and friends. We go boating, fishing (love ice fishing!), camping, and golfing. I love to garden, do memory books, and of course take lots of pictures.

My passion is photography. It is very therapeutic to me. I am thrilled when I capture an image of a child that portrays innocence and wonder. You can gaze into the eyes of the children in my images and see the passion I put into each portrait.

I enjoy spontaneous, relaxed natural photography. However, I also like the traditional portraiture photography, always trying to come up with new ideas for unique portrait shots.

I love doing children’s photography. I also enjoy doing family portraits, graduation portraits, and weddings.

I like to provide time with a client in a relaxed, unhurried session that is so essential in creating beautiful and unique portraits.
